Air/Ocean Model and Prediction System Development
نویسنده
چکیده
The goal of this project is to develop a fully coupled mesoscale atmosphere-ocean prediction system that can be used over any given area of the world. This goal is to be accomplished by coupling a fullphysics mesoscale ocean model to a mesoscale atmospheric forecast model; developing, testing, and evaluating software for the necessary supporting infrastructure; and by leveraging related programs to develop an ocean data assimilation capability. This prediction system will be the cornerstone for basic and applied research to study forecast problems for which coupling may be important, and it will also be transitioned to operations to address those situations for which coupling is found to make a significant positive impact on mesoscale forecasts of the atmosphere and/or ocean.

Next-Generation Air–Ocean–Wave Coupled Ocean/Atmosphere Mesoscale Prediction System (COAMPS)
Introduction: A team of NRL scientists from the Marine Meteorology and Oceanography Divisions has successfully transformed the one-way air–ocean Coupled Ocean/Atmosphere Mesoscale Prediction System (COAMPS®*) into a six-way fully coupled air–ocean– wave weather and marine forecasting system. This was accomplished using the state-of-the-art Earth System Modeling Framework (ESMF), making COAMPS t...

Type-2 fuzzy set theory is one of the most powerful tools for dealing with the uncertainty and imperfection in dynamic and complex environments. The applications of type-2 fuzzy sets and soft computing methods are rapidly emerging in the ecological fields such as air pollution and weather prediction. The air pollution problem is a major public health problem in many cities of the world. Predict...
متن کاملA 2D Coupled Atmosphere–Ocean Model Study of Air–Sea Interactions during a Cold Air Outbreak over the Gulf Stream
The two-dimensional, Advanced Regional Prediction System (ARPS) has been coupled with the Princeton Ocean Model to study air–sea interaction processes during an extreme cold air outbreak over the Gulf Stream off the southeastern United States. Emphases have been placed on the development of the mesoscale front and local winds in the lower atmosphere due to differential fluxes over the land, the...
متن کاملDevelopment and Simulation of a PEM Fuel Cell model for Prediction of Water Content and Power Generation
The proton exchange membrane (PEMFC) fuel cell represents the energy of the future, in parallel with hydrogen. However, this technology must meet many technical challenges related to performance and durability before being sold on a large scale. It is well known that these challenges are closely linked to water management. This paper develops and implements a model of PEM fuel for simulation to...
